Computer Problems I have seen over the past few weeks with many customers not doing the basics. The basics are as follows: 1. Keep windows and all virus/spyware/malware updated on a regular basis. This means not only automatic updates but physically doing the update at their site. Sometimes even a few checks to make sure you have all the latest and greatest. There are times you need one update first in order to download two others.
2. People still love to just click away and not pay too much attention to what they are clicking. This goes for downloading apps on facebook to a simple popup. Clicking these things may make them go away but they may also start another process, like downloading a virus or trojan horse or worm. PAY ATTENTION !!!
Remember- Protection, Protection, Protection.
It is an evil cyber space we live in, dont get caught with no PROTECTION. |

Understanding Computer Infections
Searching the Internet and in news stories, you hear about many different forms of electronic infection. The most common are:
-
Viruses - A virus is a bit of software that piggybacks onto the real program. For example, a virus might attach itself to a program such as a word program. Each time the word program runs, the virus will run, and it also gives the chance to re-create (by attaching to other programs) or wreaking havoc.
-
E-mail viruses - E-mail viruses travel as attachments to e-mail messages, and usually replicate by automatically mailing itself to many of the people in your e-mail address book. Some e-mail viruses don't even require a double-click -- they launch when you view the infected message in the preview pane of your e-mail software.
-
Trojan horses - A Trojan horse is simply a computer program. The program states that it does one thing (it may claim to be a game) but instead damages your computer when you run it (it may erase your hard disk). Trojan horses, however, do not replicate automatically.
-
Worms - A worm is a bit of software that uses computer networks and security openings to replicate itself. A copy of the worm scans the network for another machine that has a specific security opening. It then copies itself to the new machine using that security opening, and then starts replicating from there, as well.

PC Protection Using multiple protection for spyware and virus is essential in todays online world.
I use Norton 360, Windows Defender and spybot to protect my computer and also suggest to my clients to use Avast pro and AVG if they are on a budget. Protection, Protection ,Protection! |
